After the great success of 2023, the Rome Whiskey Festival, the event open to the public and dedicated to the varied world of whisky, its lovers, producers, importers, distributors and bartenders which took place Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 February in the now usual setting of Fountain Hall.
Also for this edition, stands and exhibitor spaces of the most important companies in the sector are planned, such as Glenmorangie, Akashi, Shinobu, Glenturret, Ardberg and many others.
An entire weekend dedicated to the "king" of spirits, which Andrea Fofi, founder and organizer of the event, wanted to enrich with numerous innovations, among which a new one stands out Vintage area, dedicated to vintage bottlings. Born from the collaboration with Gold Whiskey Bar, is a space designed for those who already know the soul of this magnificent distillate and want to discover rare and particular editions: among the many, we include a Port Ellen from 1979, Macallan X-ray range, Bowmore 27yo of 1989, Clynelish 24yo of 1990, Fettercairn 18yo in 1997.
There is no shortage of masterclasses dedicated to sector professionals, for which the afternoons (from 3pm to 5pm) are reserved. Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th.
Among the events scheduled for the 24th, stands out "Discovering the Benriach and Glenglassaugh distilleries”, which will see Claudio Riva (president of Whiskey Club Italia) grappling with the secrets and curiosities of these two legendary distilleries in the Highland and Speyside world. Also on the 24th, Marco Fedele, Bruichladdich brand ambassador, will be the speaker of "Bruichladdich, a journey to discover the island of Islay”: an opportunity to learn the peculiarities of the different bottlings of Bruichladdich, one of the most iconic Islays on the market.
Among the events on Sunday 25 February, we highlight "ORO Collection, a unique opportunity in 4 decades”, held by Fabio Ermoli (creator of the Lost Dram Selection project), where we will discover four vintage bottlings of whisky, divided into four decades, to discover peculiarities and distinctive characteristics of each era.
To complete the large space dedicated to industry workers, the festival is open to all enthusiasts of the distillate par excellence, as confirmed by patron Andrea Fofi: “In recent years the whiskey market, historically aimed at the narrow circle of great enthusiasts, has opened up to a greater number of consumers: a product that is today appreciated by both sexes and all age groups”
This is demonstrated by a lesson specifically dedicated to beginners, to whom the introductory mini-course, the ABC of whisky, is dedicated”.
The "Whisky & Lode" award could not be missing from the Rome Whiskey Festival 2024, which will elect the best whiskeys of the show evaluated, as usual, by a jury of experts according to the blind tasting rule, in four different categories: Best Scotch Whiskey , Best Cask Strength, Best World Whiskey and Best American Whiskey.
