“Christmas Daiquiri” by Gabriele Sarritzu is the winning cocktail of Less is More

AND Gabriele Sarritzu with his “Christmas Daiquiri” to get on the podium of Less is More, one of the most important alcohol-free cocktail competitions at an international level. The final appointment of the contest organized atOctavius Bar in Milan from MeMento, the Italian brand of zero alcohol spirits created by Eugenio Muraro.

To compete with their recipes based on MeMento proposals, i four bartenders who had passed the two selection phases: the first, carried out by the technical jury, which reduced the number of competitors from the initial 80 to 8, and the second, through an online vote open to the public, which decreed the finalists: in addition to the winner, Davide Sottile, Kshan Crest And Noemi Desiree Amato.

Sarritzu won the challenge. The competition, launched on the occasion of Dry January, was created for stimulate the creativity of bartenders. Less is more in fact it tests the ability to create aoriginal non-alcoholic drink that has nothing to envy of traditional alcoholic cocktails.

Less is More 2023

Zero Alcohol Lots of Quality. The recipes presented by the finalists demonstrate this to the jury composed by Luca Angeli of the Four Season Milan, Andrea Onesti Of OnestiGroup, Stefano Nincevich of Bargiornale e Andrea Montagnana, brand mixologist specialist at MeMento.

Gabriele Sarritzu for his “Christmas Daiquiri”, he chose to mix MeMento Blue with cinnamon syrup, fresh lime juice, fresh orange juice, powdered saffron.
Davide Sottile in “Gold in your Mouth!” used a base of MeMento Green, combined with a homemade apple and ginger cordial and chestnut honey.
Kshan Crest prepared a “Granny's Kitchen” based on MeMento Blue by mixing it with Luigina's Cordial homemade and carrot concentrate.
Noemi Desiree Amato with his “Nel Bluepainting of Blue” he combined MeMento Blue with fennel extract, fresh bergamot juice and mint essence, completing with a top of Mediterranean Tonic.

The “Christmas Daiquiri” recipe

5 Cl MeMento Blue
2 Cl Cinnamon Syrup
2 Cl Fresh Orange Juice
1.5 Cl Fresh Lime Juice
Saffron powder
Shake and pour with the strainer into a Nick & Nora glass.

The jury awarded the highest scores to the drinks of Sarritzu And Crest, which they then moved on to next test: the Mystery Box. The two finalists created a completely new non-alcoholic cocktail on the spot using the surprise ingredients from the box.
Sarritzu who earned the victory and the prize: a flight to Berlin as member of the MeMento team, where he will present his acclaimed “Christmas Daiquiri” at Berlin Bar Convent 2023.
