Mix Contest, the most famous bartender battle in Italy, returns for a new Italian tour which will touch, between 2022 and 2023, the Italian cities most suited to mixing, in search of the best bartenders in Italy.

A BIT OF HISTORY

It was 2017 when an event entirely dedicated to mixing appeared in Turin for the first time. It took the name of Mix Contest, because in the mind of its creator, Lalla Carello, it had to be a battle between bartenders to take place in front of the eyes of a public judge and taster, who at the end of the evening voted for his favorite cocktails to crown the winner of the competition. alcoholic duel.

Nobody could have imagined the success that that event would have, so focused not only on the art of mixing, but also on its protagonists. Within a month, Mix Contest was on the lips of all the bartenders in Turin, who also began talking about it with colleagues outside the city all over Italy.

2017/2018 MIX CONTEST starts in Turin and hosts the best Cocktail Bars in Turin, Milan, Bologna, Florence and Rome.
2018/2019 MIX CONTEST transforms into MIX CONTEST ITALY TOUR and moves throughout Italy, from Piedmont, to Veneto, to Sicily, etc.
2019/2020 one step away from the Tour final….

The growing interest pushed Lalla Carello and the Eventi To Be agency to extend the competition to bartenders from other Italian cities, keeping Turin as the theater for individual events which over the following year saw mixologists from Milan, Bologna and Florence competing and Rome. The two winners of each stage competed in a memorable grand final which crowned the Best Bartender in Italy.

2019 was instead the year in which Mix Contest left the confines of the city that had seen it born and left for an Italian Tour which touched on stops such as Milan, Rome, Venice, Genoa, Parma and Taormina, again in search of the Best Bartender of Italy.

Then, the darkness.

There is no need to use many words to describe the 2020/2021 two-year period, just use one: pandemic. The invisible enemy that has paralyzed the world has obviously not spared even mixing. With cocktail bars closed and the impossibility of going to bars, Mix Contest Italy Tour also dutifully canceled the second edition, waiting for better times.

THOSE TIMES HAVE ARRIVED

The opportunity for the great return was a tempting one: the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin. Lavazza, in collaboration with To Be, decides to open its Nuvola to all tennis enthusiasts and beyond, with a schedule of daytime and evening events curated by the well-known Turin agency. At that point it became official: Mix Contest could finally be reborn and it could do it from Turin, the same city from which it had started 4 years earlier.

After the success of this edition, the format returned on the occasion of the EUROVISION SONG CONTEST in Turin and, now, it starts again with Mix Contest Italy Tour from Catania.

MIX CONTEST ITALY TOUR 2022: LET'S START FROM CATANIA

The drink battle that travels throughout Italy in search of the best MT Magazine bartender starts again on Tuesday 30 August. The first stop of the Mix Contest Italy Tour will take place in Catania, at the hotel NH Aragonese Park, where 10 of the best cocktail bars in the city will compete in the preparation of two cocktails. At the end of the evening both the public and the jury of experts will evaluate its technique, presentation, originality and taste. As will also happen during the subsequent stages, the two best cocktail bars of the evening will win a place in the final in Turin, scheduled for 21 March 2023.

NOT JUST COCKTAILS…

Inside the Nh Parco degli Aragonesi hotel, guests will be able to taste cocktails prepared by the bartenders accompanied by a gastronomic proposal curated by the hotel's chefs.

THE LOCATION

The hotel NH Catania Aragonese Park it's in a fantastic location.
