REGISTRATIONS OPEN FOR THE FIRST TWO STAGES OF THE ELEPHANT GIN NATIONAL COMPETITION THE AFRICA-INSPIRED GIN MIXOLOGY COMPETITION

New edition with 6 stages and a national winner for the spirit that protects elephants

The Elephant Gin bartending competition is back, the spirit born in Germany and inspired by the magical land of Africa, which has always been committed to the protection of elephants. A new edition that broadens its horizons after the total acquisition by Compagnia dei Caribbean, becoming a National Competition this year and doubling the stages from north to south of Italy in search of the best mixology talents.
Until March 1st it will be possible for professional bartenders to register for the first two stages: Turin on March 13th and Catania on March 15th. The competition will then move to Florence and Bologna in April and then to Naples and Bari in June. For each of the six stages there is a pre-selection of a maximum of 15 candidates carried out by two experts in the Beverage sector.

The dates and locations

March 13 – Dash, Turin
15 March – Bohème Mixology Bar, Catania
11 April – Rasputin, Florence
12 April – Ruggine, Bologna
12 June – Terrazza Ramè, Naples
14 June – Variety, Bari
4 December – Percentolab, Milan

Further juries of experts will then proclaim a winner for each semi-final, thus forming a shortlist of 6 finalists who will compete for the national title on 4 December in Milan. The participants of each stage will have to face two heats:
FIRST ROUND: preparation in 7 minutes of the cocktail presented during the competition application phase;
SECOND ROUND: the best three of the first round will taste a mystery cocktail prepared by the Bar Manager of the location where the semi-final will take place. The competitors' task will be to discover which of the Elephant references and which other ingredients have been used and reproduce it as faithfully as possible.

The six winners (one per stage) will win a trip to Germany to Wittenburg with a visit to Elephant Gin distillery. At the Milanese final only one will triumph, winning a prize trip to Africa to discover the territory and the wild fauna protection projects of which Elephant Gin is an active promoter and supporter.

BETTER GIN, SAFER ELEPHANT

Elephant Gin is intended for all those with a sense of adventure. Handcrafted in Germany to high quality standards, each batch is distilled using 14 botanicals, which include rare African ingredients, giving a distinctive flavor profile to the gin. Elephant Gin founders Tessa and Robin Gerlach were inspired to create the range of handcrafted premium gins following their adventures in Africa. In 2013 they developed the award-winning Elephant London Dry Gin (45%) which uses rare African botanicals alongside artisanal production methods. Over the years, the portfolio has been enriched with the aromatic Elephant Sloe Gin (35%), the full-bodied Elephant Strength Gin (57%) and today with the fresh Elephant Orange Cocoa Gin (40%). The entire Elephant Gin product line is handcrafted in small batches, using traditional distillation methods with Arnold Holstein copper stills. The manual control of the production steps and the slow distillation ensure the intensity of the aromas and the highest quality. All bottles are custom made, with handwritten labels, sealed with natural cork and tied with string. The group also wants to give back to what inspired the birth of the brand in the first place. For this reason, Elephant Gin donates 15% of its profits to foundations for the protection of the African elephant, ensuring the conservation of African nature, so that future generations still have the opportunity to explore these wonderful landscapes. Attention to sustainability and social responsibility is reflected in all aspects of the company's work. Initiatives include reducing waste, researching innovative methods of waste disposal and also providing employment opportunities in South Africa.
