The city of Turin opens its doors to the Fuori Salone del Vermouth

A week of events, between Vermouth Contest Special Edition, ad hoc menus, thematic drink lists and guided tours to iconic places in the city.

From Monday 19 to Sunday 25 February, the Fuori Salone del Vermouth will be held in Turin, the spin-off preview of the first Vermouth Salon, event hosted at the National Museum of the Risorgimento on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 February. The schedule of weekly events will include dinners with vermouth pairings and themed drink lists, served respectively in the best restaurants and cocktail bars in the city. Protagonist too the Carpano Museum, where the opening event of the event will be held on Monday at 5.30pm and one guided tour per day until Friday, and the Lavazza cloud, where they will take shape is the Vermouth Contest Special Edition on Tuesday at La Centrale, and visits to the Museum from Wednesday to Friday.

THE COCKTAIL BAR PROPOSALS

From Monday to Sunday, 19 cocktail bars in the city and beyond will offer drink lists dedicated to the Turin spirit par excellence, with exceptional guests and vermouth producers. Thursday 22 February Floor 35 lounge bar will host the bartenders Gabriele Armani and Paolo Mereghetti of Barcelona paradise: the best cocktail bar in the world according to The World's 50 Best Bars 2022. In the drink list of the evening, the cocktails will feature the Mancino vermouth, in signature, such as the spectacular The Cloud with Mezcal, Hibiscus, Amaro Montenegro, Mancino dry Vermouth, xylitol, Perrier and coffee cloud.

Same day from Azotea, Nikkei cocktail restaurant, to be the protagonist in the cocktails combined with the dishes of chef Alexander Robles, will be the Carpano vermouth. The Nami, with fresh and light notes, will be prepared with Carpano Dry vermouth macerated with lavender flowers, Konishi Hiyashibori Gold sake, homemade green tea liqueur, yuzu and celery leaf soda and paired with the Causa Rellena dish.

Saturday 24 February at Bar Cavour in Piazza Carignano will have La as a special guest Global Brand Ambassador of Mancino Vermouth and Amaro Lucano Elena Urbani, who for the occasion has prepared a cocktail list that enhances both alcoholic bases. In the Giostra, the Mancino Bianco Ambrato infused with fig leaves will be mixed with Amaro Lucano, with a chocolate bitter and with cicedrata while in the Zero, the Mancino Vermouth Kopi with Indonesian coffee extract will be combined with a vodka flavored with coconut yogurt . During the week of the Fuori Salone, the cocktail bar in Piazza Vittorio La Drogheria, which will have as its guest on Wednesday 21st the head bartender of the Rita's Tiki Room in Milan Alessandro D'Alessio, it will serve, among others, the Hanky Panky, a mixing classic created in 1903 by barlady Ada Coleman, based on Seven Hills gin, Punt e Mes vermouth and Fernet Branca.

RESTAURANT PROPOSALS

In the same period, eleven restaurants will be protagonists with menus designed specifically for the evening and combined, for the occasion, with all shades of vermouth. Monday 19 Down at Guido, the Alciati family bistro at Eataly Lingotto, will serve a dinner with a Carpano vermouth-based drink pairing, curated by the Experienced Herbalist Matteo Bonoli. Standing out among the pairings are the Grissinopoli with cheek, rubra and green sauce combined with the Milano-Torino and the iconic Plin di Lidia with roast sauce, which for the occasion will be accompanied by a Carpano Dry Martini.

On Wednesday 21st at Caffè San Carlo you can enjoy a tasting menu with a Martini vermouth-based pairing. Among the dishes of the evening, Christian Costardi's Different tonnato - a reinterpretation of vitello tonnato with a veal fillet tartare seasoned with Timorasso oil, salt and vinegar and accompanied by a tuna sauce inspired by the classic way - will be paired with the Rubino Mule from bar manager of the MAG Cafè in Milan Emanuele Cosi: a twist on the Moscow Mule with Martini Rubino, Thyme Syrup, Lime and Ginger.

Thursday 22nd San Tommaso 10 will be the protagonist with an aperitif served after the visit to the Lavazza Museum. Together with the Russian salad, like a cassata, by Corrado Assenza signed by chef Gabriele Eusebi, L'Innominato will be served, an aperitif cocktail with alchermes, a liqueur produced by the traditional chef, called differently in each region - hence the name of the drink – Carpano red vermouth and Calima single origin Colombia cold brew coffee. Opera on the same evening it will take a tasting menu in which the Torino Superiore Nonis Februariis vermouth by Franco Cavallero Spiriti it will be the protagonist in a dish by chef Stefano Sforza – 3 Guancia with Turin vermouth, purple cabbage, smoked potato – in purity, as an aperitif, and in two cocktails by sommelier Carlo Salino, including the Smoked Negroni designed to accompany the cheek.

THE VERMOUTH CONTEST SPECIAL EDITION

The heart of the Fuori Salone will be the Vermouth Contest Special Edition, an event within the organized event Tuesday 20th at La Centrale Lavazza. Fourteen cocktail bars in Turin and the surrounding area will compete by preparing vermouth-based signature drinks, in front of a double jury, made up of experts in the mixology sector and the public. Among these, Vittorio Rosso de The Reserve, a Turin cocktail bar, will offer Tiki-amo later, a drink with Amaranto Mancino vermouth, Ginger Falernum – a traditional tiki liqueur – and Barceló Imperial Onyx rum. Paolo Beatino and Nicolò Canali by GAF, cocktail bar with cuisine in Cambiano (TO), will present for the evening a twist on the Moscow Mule - the Pession Mule - whose name recalls both the city where Martini is based, where the Martini Riserva Rubino is used to replace vodka, and the passion fruit syrup, here combined with lime juice and Fever Tree ginger beer.

COLLABORATIONS

To complete the calendar of the Fuori Salone del Vermouth there will be events organized in collaboration with Cantina Social and local authorities Somewhere Tour And Turin tourism. The former, recognized for their passion for wine and for communication on social media, will lead vermouth tastings in their own premises at the Mercato Centrale Torino from Monday to Friday at 7.30pm; the Torino Golosa tour by Somewhere Tour – a visit to discover the excellence of the Turin and Piedmontese territory – will end on Saturday for the occasion at the Museo del Risorgimento and Turismo Torino will propose, on all the days of the Fuori Salone, the EXTRA VERMOUTH event – Turin Vermouth™ time in the 26 participating venues.
