Christmas day has passed but, that doesn't mean the desire to celebrate it has disappeared. To conclude the column of drinks dedicated to the anniversary of December 25th, today we offer you the latest themed cocktail.
Is called Zenzy and it is one of the recipes that Antonio Grasso, the bar manager of the cocktail bar DNA Cocktail Room of Nicolosi (CT), thought for this holiday. The recipe is linked to that of a traditional Christmas classic, gingerbread, a dessert made from a mixture of honey/molasses and sugar, flavored with ginger, cinnamon and any cloves.
In Antonio Grasso's drink the flavor of this Christmas dessert has been proposed both in a bitter – flavored with ginger, cinnamon and cloves – and in a little man-shaped garnish, to recall Zenzy, the talking cookie from the animated film of 2001 Shrek.
The alcoholic base of the recipe is rum, to which Antonio combines both a homemade shortcrust pastry syrup and a candied orange cordial, ingredients which respectively give sweetness and acidity to the drink.
