Bamboo, the "jungle" of Bologna returns in a more aseptic and sophisticated guise

Condividi

The junglest place ever moves and reopens in a location with new colours, its appearance changes but not its multifaceted, lively nature and always full of novelties.

A brand new venue, after the inauguration on Thursday 9 September, Bamboo starts again with its new look in Str. Maggiore 23/C in Bologna. We passed through a passage area, like Museum Street, to a more internal area of the city, where customers must necessarily go to visit the new location, larger, less jungle but with the same playful spirit as always. The news? Let's discover them together.

The new face of Bamboo

The new Bamboo he broadened his horizons both physically and mentally. The jewel in the crown is the counter, central and majestic, unlike the previous one, it can accommodate 6 to 8 people at a time. A sacred place, which cannot be renounced, framed by white walls and clear lights to focus attention on the wonderful five-arched bottle rack. The jungle theme of the design has been toned down in favor of a more aseptic environment made of bold colors such as burgundy and sugar paper which finely enrich the eight-table room. The only reminder of the past remains toilet completely covered with the jungle-style wallpaper of the old headquarters.

The real novelty lies in the offer, the Bamboo it transforms from an evening cocktail bar to a 360° bar, ready to welcome its customers from seven in the morning. The actual research was dictated by the need for a radical change and by the new trends of the moment which led the Bamboo to reflect on the possibility of broadening one's views.

The Bamboo team

To captain the Bamboo team there is the very young one Lara Ponti, defined by colleagues as the DS of the team, or the sporting artistic director of Bamboo, a name with which he feels more comfortable given his young age. Next to him at the counter Christian Torcasio, right-hand man since the days of Museum Street; the new entry Elena Montomoli And Fabio Tammariello. The management of the room, however, is entrusted to Elizabeth Pasquale who also takes care of the graphics for the venue, but not only that. Over time, the four bartenders are also training Elisabetta as a bar assistant. Lara tells us about a funny episode at the end of the evening in which they asked her to make a Daiquiri for everyone and which resulted in an evening gag that is repeated constantly, so much so that he created a video column on social media. An important message that the kids want to convey Bamboo to the new talents of the bar: never take yourself too seriously and always laugh!

Bamboo's mixing and drink list

Bamboo offers a hybrid mix, which arises from the paths and creative flair of the four bartenders, each with their own very explicit identity. Lara, a lover of spirits, focuses his creations on twists with painstaking and well-considered work on the latest innovations on the market. His research is focused on the quality of the product: excellent spirits and modifiers such as bitters and niche liqueurs, he wants to detach himself in a certain sense from the tendency towards the disproportionate use of homemade. Fabio, however, is the Tiki man of the Bamboo, a great connoisseur of the Tiki world, focuses above all on tropical drinks and preparations. Christian he is the "fermenter" of the group, always committed to the recovery of the raw material and how to use it best and last but not least, Elena the sensitive "hand" of the group, super balanced in mixing, has the gift of knowing how to read the liquid desires of customers and reproduce them perfectly. Their secret is the perfect synergy that is created between them, each with its own identity manages in one way or another to contaminate the other, giving life to a varied and accessible drink list to everyone's taste.

In the new proposals present in the latest drink list, the group has decided to maintain its identity to present itself to new customers, without contaminating each other. The menu is divided into four categories like its creators: alcoholic, classic, low alcohol and non-alcoholic. Everyone has had a hand in the heart of the drink list by offering their own versions for the four categories, but they are not identifiable on the menu, it will be up to the customer to discover whose "hand" is behind the cocktail over time. As Lara confirms “the customer returning to the venue several times we are sure that he will be able to identify which of us is the creator of his favorite drink”.

Some of the cocktails on the drink list:

The Judge: Wild Turkey Bourbon & Rye, Apple Kombucha

Porco Rosso: Mary Low Abv Gin, 1757 Vermouth Cardamom Infused, Acidified Strawberry & Coriander

The guests organized by Bamboo

For Bamboo comparison with other venues has always been essential. How do you drink in other places, what changes from one city to another in the world when it comes to mixology? It is a target that they had already acquired some time ago and which will be expanded this year: Bamboo hosts and travels and leaves again with the new season from Pisa, where they were guests at Jeffer and they will shortly draw up the calendar for the next appointments.
