In the heart of Bologna, a few steps from the iconic Two Towers (Asinelli and Garisenda), is located Rust, one street bar which celebrates its tenth anniversary with an authentic soul. The idea of Davide Patta and partners transformed the former bicycle workshop into a charming venue vintage in which thelight-hearted and informal atmosphere welcomes a loyal clientele.
The team led by the bar manager Fabio Tammariello prepares essential, colorful, simple and refined drinks, as in the latest spring-summer drink list inaugurated at the beginning of April: Rust City.
The idea of Fabio Tammariello, in common with the cocktail bar team Bamboo and developed together with the bartenders of Ruggine Davo Patta, “Sasu” Bersani, Christian Cantone and Dario Heluani, was to dedicate a drink list to the video game GTA. So, it was decided to tackle two different chapters of the same game – for Rust Vice City, for Bamboo San Andreas – by putting a guest drink from the other venue on the menu, in order to create a common thread between the two establishments.
The cover of the Ruggine drink list follows the appearance of the original one from the PlayStation 2 game and contains 16 cocktails inspired by the 80s in the United States, the bright colors of Miami, the TV series Miami Vice, the films Bad Boys and Cocktail, but also other references that can be easily guessed by browsing the menu.
Here are some of the choices from the new drink list:
- AS TRUISE: fresh, balsamic and sweet tribute to the Turquoise, a drink that became popular with the film Cocktail, with Ketel One Vodka, Venturo Aperitivo, citric solution, orange blossoms, Three Cents Pineapple Soda
- PIZZA BOY: tribute to the Vice City mission of the same name and to the flavours of the much-loved tricolour dish, with Gin Arte, basil cordial, buffalo mozzarella foam
- OCEAN DRIVE: an aromatic and light drink, like the ocean, with 207 Amaro Locale, peach brandy, citric solution, elderflower & citrus, soda
- ALL FRUITS: a cocktail inspired by the Gin Fizz and the soundtrack of the film Cocktail, with Beefeater Gin, kiwi, Luxardo Aperitivo, lemon, foamer, Three Cents Fig Leaf Soda
- DRAGON BAY BEACH: the name is that of the beach bar where one of the scenes of the famous Cocktail was filmed, the recipe is that of the Negroni, revisited in a tropical key with Bulldog Gin, Fusetti, Punt&Mes, banana tepache, kaffir lime
